The Three Steps to Creating the Career of Your Dreams
Whether you are creating the life of your dreams or the career of your dreams, there are three steps you must follow:
Create a compelling vision of the work you want to do. To do that, you must identify the skills and abilities that you have and you enjoy using, your values and priorities. Just as with the process of creating a vision of the life you want to live, it's very enjoyable and empowering.
Take action to attract the work you want to do. This is the step that most people focus on exclusively when they are thinking about career development. It includes developing your personal marketing package (resume, cover letter, etc.), carrying out a job search, interviewing and following up.
Follow-up, persevere, and continue to move steadily toward your goal. This step also includes career management, such as making wise decisions, continuous professional development, dealing with challenges without burning bridges.
